Ratio - Compares quantities measured in the units.

Rate - Compares 2 quantities ,measured in different units.

The difference between rate and ratio is that ratio measures things in the same units rate measures stuff in different units.

4. Determine the unit rate in each situation.
a) An orca swims 110 km in 2 h.
b) A Canada goose flies 800 km in 12.5 h.
c) Cathy plants 45 daffodils in 30 min.

a) 55km/1h
b) 64km/1h
c) 90 daffodils /1h

10. Trevor rode his mountain bike 84 km in
3 h. Jillian rode 70 km in 2.5 h. Who is
the faster cyclist? How do you know?

They both rode at the same speed.
Trevor rode his bike 28km/1h.
Jillian rode her bike 28km/1h.

Question: If a man runs 5km/10h how fast does he run every 2 hours?
Answer: He runs 1km/2h.


Part 2:

1. The recipe would have 2x the ingredients and half of the normal ingredients would be added on it too.
Ex: 1 tsp of sugar would now look like this: 1 x 2= 2 and 1 / 2= 0.5 0.5 + = 2.5 tsp

2. All the ingredients would have divided by 4 of all ingredients.
Ex: 1 tsp of sugar would look like this: 1 / 4= 0.25tsp
