#4 Determine the unit rate.

a) Three diner rolls cost 99 cents.

You make a ratio table then put cents on the left side and rolls on the right side. Under the cents put 99 and under the rolls put 3. Divide the right side by 3 and the other side by three also, it will give you its unit rate. Which makes 3/3 = 1 and 99/3 = 33. 3 cents a roll.

b)Seven identical objects have a mass
of 14 kg

Make a ratio table the on one side put objects then on the other side put kg. Under object put 7 because there are 7 objects and under kg put 14 because it has a mass of 14 kg. Then to find the unit rate you need to divide 14 by 14 which is one. Then you do the same thing on the other side. 7 divided by 14 + 0.5.

similar log into six pieces?

Make a ratio table then on one side put pieces and on the other side put minutes. Then under pieces put 3 because he can saw 3 pieces. Then under minutes put 7 because he can saw 3 logs in 7 minutes. Then you need to find how many minutes would he take if he saws 6 pieces of logs. So 3 x 2 =6 + 6 logs. Then under the 7 put 14 because 7 x2 =14.

24. a) Describe a pattern you could use to find
the next fraction in the following set of
fractions.

The pattern is that the numerator goes up by 1 and the denominator goes up by 2's

I answered, " The next fraction is 4/8 because the numerator goes up by 1 and the denominator goes up by 2. The weird polka dotted alien was surprised.
