I decided to visit Winnipeg, Manitoba. A weird green thing went at my house . I opened the door and i saw a weird blob with a sign stupid stuff. , if i didnt show my skills on proportions, it would invade the earth and kill everyone. So i showed how i could do proportions.

A.
Make a fraction table, at the left side put a 60 km over the line and put 3 hrs under the line.at right side put 120 km over the line and put 6 hrs under the line.which makes 60 x 2=120 and 3 x 2=6.120km for 6 hrs
B.

Make a fraction table, at the left side put $3 over the line and put 4 cans under the line. at the right side put $15 over the line and put 20 cans under the line.which makes 3 x 5=15 and 4 x 5=20.$15 for 20 cans
C.
Make a fraction table, at the left side put 178 beats over the line and put 2 mins. under the line. at the right side put 89 beats over the line and put 1 min. under the line.which makes 178/2=89 and 2/2=1

D.

Make a fraction table, at the left side put 48km over the line and put $16. under the line. at the right side put 192km over the line and put $64. under the line.which makes 48 x 4=192 and 16 x 4=64.

PAY IT FORWARD

- When I watched a kid who wanted to change are world he did change some
people but he got stubbed by the long hair kid and die

- So I gave card to people because some times people get touched when read
the card after when I gave all the card's I baby sat my baby cousin and feed them with
milk

Why is the idea "Pay it Forward important?

- The idea " Pay it Forward is really good. Because people don't really think about helping others. Also, people really do appreciate it when you help them.

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?
No we I did not ask the people to "Pay it Forward".

Why is the idea of Pay it Forward important?

Pay it forward is important because its good to learn to be giving to people who need just a bit of a boost. Another reason pay it forward is important is because it works, if everyone actually did a really good deed to someone who needs it the world would be a better place. At the same time, nobody and nothings perfect so you can't expect pay it forward to work, but its possible, anythings possible if everyone put the effort in trying to make the world a better place

Christine's Pay it Forward

Pay it Forward means an act of kindness you would like to do for either a person you know or a stranger.

Part 2
Me, Vicky, Caitlin, Kim, Abby and Razel decided to donate goody bags, stuff stuffed animals and books to the Children's Hospital .
We chose to donate at the hospital because we knew that some of the kids might not recieve a gift.
We helped the hospital and made the sick kids happy (:
We bought goody bags to donate to the hospital . Inside, there was led pencils, erasers, chocolates, bubbles, bouncy balls and candy canes. We also added Christmas Cards. Razel, Kim and Abby donated some stuff toys, books and keychains.
We did it on Monday.

Part 3
It went Great. Mr. McLean drove us to Children's Hospital during the lunch hour. When we got there, we didnt know what to do. We were all shy to ask the nurse lady. So we just waited until she asked us. When she finally saw us, we told her we were donating goody bags, toys and books to children's hospital for a project.
The lady called the children life department but she couldn't reach them so she told us to leave the packages at the table and write them a note. She also said that they were going to send us a letter back or call the school to thank us.
After we finished the note, we gave it to the Nurse lady and thanked us for donating stuff. Then, we went outside.
I felt a little nervous because I thought the Nurse lady might not accept it.
The nurse lady was surprised and thankful.
We didn't get to say to the Nurse lady to Pay it Forward because she was busy and she immediately led us to Child Life Department.

Part 4
The idea of Pay It Forward is important because it could make a person have a smile on their face so they would want to do it to others too. 1 person can make a difference.
I don't know if our act of kindness made a difference . I hope it did.

Michael R. Pay It Forward

Part 1:

Pay it forward is something like doing something good for someone and then they pass it on to someone else and the world gets better. It is something that inspires people to do good things for others. It is an act of good deed.

Part 2:
What did you do?
My Pay it forward was helping young people learn about their fate so that when they are having troubles they know what to do.This would also make them do better choices in life because they know what their god would have done.

Why did you do it?
I chose this activity because I see a lot of people not knowing about their fate and it is because they did not learn about it when they were little and now they dont believe it at all.

When did you do it?
I did this last saturday.
Part 3:
How did your act of kindness go?
My act of kindness really went well we learned that christmas was when jesus was born. The kids were really fun because they pretty much knew what to do.In the end I hardly got to do anything but I still helped them learn by reading to them.

How did it feel and how did they react?
It felt great because I finally know how it is to read to little kids and work with them it was really fun. They reacted normally because it was a class and I was just helping out.

Did you ask them to pay it forward?
no I didnt ask them to pay it forward but I pretty much knew that they would "pay it forward" and understand the meaning of it.

Part 4
Why is "pay it forward" important?
Because we cant hide the truth that this is a bad generation but if we change and get more and more people to change we can change not unly us but we can change the whole world.
(sorry I dont have much pictures because it is a class.)

Darnell Richard Allen Pay it Forward

Darnell Richard Allen PAY IT FORWARD!

Part 1
What is "Pay it Forward"?
Pay it forward is a random act of kindness given to random people. Like giving a lollipop to a little girl for example.

Part 2
Why did you choose this activity?
Me Richard, and Allen decided to pass out small coloured candy canes around the school. Richard bought the $4 worth of candy canes from super store. We all pitched in atleast $1 to make the deal fair.

What did you do?
The 3 of us passed out candy canes through out the school. Our first customer were little grade 3 kids from Ms.Nickels class. The kids kept grabbing and eventually, the bag ripped with a big hole. So Richard put the candy canes in his jackets pocket since his pockets are big. Then we handed out the rest of the candy canes around the hallway and outside the school. We also went into Allen's apartment to handout. We knocked on doors and gave out candy canes. It was a kindness to show that we have our "Christmas" spirit!

When did you do your act of kindness?
We did our act of kindness Wednesday December 9, 2009 at lunch time.

Part 3
How did your act of kindness go?
It was actually really fun handing out the candy canes. We had our laughs and smiles as we handed it out and it was really enjoying, except when the little grade 3's started ripping up the bag. That was really funny!

How did it feel and how did the people react?
It felt really nice to give out something nice to the people. The people were pleased that they had candy canes, in our honor of our kind of our "Christmas" spirit.

Did you ask them to pay it forward?
Yes we did actually. As we passed it out to the adults outside and inside the buildings we asked them.

Part 4
Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" so important?
So we can change the world in a short time so the world can be a better place and people around the world.

Why is "Pay it Forward" important?
So we can change the world into a better place then what it is now, so the world expects something from some one.

Sorry that we dont have any pictures. They were deleted on Allen's camera unfortunately :(

Jerick873 Pay It Forward Post

What Is Pay It Forward ?
Pay it forward is a random act of kindness, trying to reach out to the world to make it a better place.

Part TWO

What Was Your Pay It Forward Act Of Kindness ?
Our pay it forward was to share fundamental activities to a day care center.

Why Did You Choose This Activity ?
We decided to share fundamental activities to the children who attended day care which is "Harstone Say Care Center". The reason why we chose to do this was because we realized that even if children are away from school or home there should still be learning during their time in action. In the mean time we also took the time to explain to the ladies who were involved in taking responsibilities of the children what pay it forward was, and how it works.

What Did You Do ?
With the three of us as a group we took the time to buy reading books, colouring books, crayons, playing cards , puzzles and goodie bags. In those very bags were candy canes, portable activities, bubbles, a card which said "We hope that you enjoy these fundamental activities we shared with you , have a merry Christmas and smile :) from pay it forward", lollipops, and stickers making it as equal as possible. Last but not the least, we placed a card which will be dedicated to the workers there as a thank you for taking care of the children there.

When Did You Do Your Act Of Kindness ?
Tuesday at lunchtime with the courtesy of Mr.McLean's car and him we got driven to the Harstone Day Care and there we shared our gift.

Part THREE

How Did Your Act Of Kindness Go ?
It went really well actually, it was also a pleasure to be able to do something like that for them.

How Did It Feel ? & How Did The People React ?
Also we felt happy that , the emotions we saw in their faces were emotions of appreciation :) .

Did you ask them to Pay It Forward ?
Yes we did , in a way such as non-mandatory but a way that they would like to do it on their own.

How Did They React To Your Request ?
They were positive with our request, and they responded that it was the least they can do . But in my opinion they are already paying it forward by looking after those kids.

Part FOUR

Why Is The Idea Of Pay It Forward So Important ? It is important so we can change the world or at least some of it.

Jerick873 Triangles Blog Post

This is my scribe for December 14th,2009
I had to do question #14

The question gave me 5 triangles triangle A, B, C, D, E and it gave there side lengths all i had to do is show if it is a right triangle.

Triangle (A) the side lengths are 9,12,15.
answer: 9 squared = 81, 12 squared=144 and 81+144 equals 15 squared which is 244 so it is a right triangle.

Triangle (B) the side lengths are 7,8,11.
answer: 7 squared = 49, 8 squared=64 and 49+64 does not equal 11 squared which is 121 so it not a right triangle.

Triangle (C) the side lengths are 7,24,25.
answer: 7 squared = 49, 24 squared=576 and 49+576 equals 25 squared which is 625 so it is a right triangle.

Triangle (D) the side lengths are 16,30,34.
answer: 16 squared = 256, 30 squared=900 and 256+900 does equal 34 squared which is 1156 so it is a right triangle.

Triangle (E) the side lengths are 10,11,14.
answer: 10 squared = 100, 11 squared=121 and 100+121 does not equal 14 squared which is 196 so it is not a right triangle.

Thanks For Reading!

Pay it forward.

Hannah's Pay It Forward
Part 1
What is "Pay it forward" ?
It is when we show a random act of kindness to one or more person, stranger or not. After that, they are supposed to pass it on and help someone else in any way. Hence, "paying it forward". I think it's amazing how someone we don't even know has been helped all because we help someone, and they help someone else.. and it goes on.

Part 2
Along with Kaitlin, we made sugar cookies and gave them to the kids at a local daycare center. I was originally planning on selling the cookies and use the money to purchase winter clothing (scarves, mitts, gloves, jackets) and donate them to a nearby homeless shelter. But the nearest shelter I found was about 40 blocks away. I even thought of walking all the way to there. But it just seemed impossible. And we only had about roughly a week for this project. So I thought that simply giving the cookies to kids would be a better idea.

The date this was done is stated in the video below.

Part 3
When we got to the daycare, it wasn't as what I had expected it to be. We did have a great time though. And so did the kids. But we told by the staff people that we weren't allowed to take pictures because they are concerned of the safety of the kids, and that the parents might not allow their children to be taken pictures of.
After a few moments of discussions with the staff, they eventually allowed us to take pictures with only some of the kids.

After that, I felt really good about myself and the fact that I was able to brighten someone's day. Whenever I help someone, I always get a feeling of accomplishment. There's nothing compared to the feeling of being able to make a difference, big or small it may be.

We explained to the staff what was going on and what "pay it forward" is all about. We encouraged them to continue the chain, and they gave us their word to do so.

Part 4
As simple as this act of kindness was, I'm sure they appreciate the fact that we took time to do something nice to people we've never even met before. It was not much of a deed to change the world, but I think it made even just a little difference in the hearts of those we have helped. After all, the beauty is not on the outcome but on the attempt. And what matters is not how it turned out to be, but the amount of heart you have given to it. Knowing that you've managed to put smiles on people's faces make the time and effort that you've made worth while.

(Jemineth Cruz, Camille Concepcion, Jerick Reyes)
Part ONE
What Is Pay It Forward ?
Pay It Forward is a way of showing care, love, and sharing joy, happiness, and warmth to any whom without asking for anything in return. Any whom meaning that not only your family or your friends because you already know them and you're afraid to meet someone else, but to interact with other people whether they were more fortunate or less fortunate. In other words, its a way of doing some random act of kindness.

Part FOUR
Why Is The Idea Of Pay It Forward So Important ?
Why Is Pay It Forward Important ?

It is important because it gives us the ability to learn and realize that alot more things can be done and should be done more than other things. Also that this way, we are able to see more things elaborately that we don't let our eyes see because we usually let our eyes focus on things we just want to see. So this way we can give with the benefits of knowing that at least for a week or one day we made peoples day.
Has Your Act Of Kindness Made A Difference ?
Yes, because with our share and alot of other peoples share this will multiply to numerous Acts Of Kindness. Who knows this may even bring our world, to everyone's pictured world a "Peaceful Happy World".

Kisha, Raquel, Krystal, and Elissa's pay it forward

Part 1

What is pay it forward?

Pay it forward is a random act of kindness you do for three people. If someone is kind to you instead of paying it back, you pay it forward to three people. Then those three people pay it forward to another three people, and hopefully it spreads all over the world.

Part 2

What was your pay it forward act of kindness?

Raquel, Krystal, Elissa and I handed out christmas cards and candy to people.

Why did you choose this activity?

We chose this activity because we thought it was the best way to spread the word about pay it forward, and explain to people how important it is.

What did you do?

Raquel, Krystal, Elissa, and me bought 70 christmas cards and wrote inside of each one, saying what pay it forward was, and asking them if they could please pay it forward. Then we went out onto my street and put some of the cards in mailboxes and on car windshields. After that we went to polo park and handed some out to the costumers and workers there.

When did you do this random act of kindness?

On sunday we bought and wrote on the cards, then on monday after school we handed them out.

Part 3

How did your random act of kindness go?

It went very well, and the people and workers were very thankful

What happened?

The people asked us why we were doing this, and we told them its an assignment from sargent park school, and its a random act of kindness.

How do you feel?

When we first started doing it , we felt nervous and scared what people would say, and if they didn't accept the card. But afterwards we started feeling really proud of our selfs because of what we did, and how happy we made people.

How did the people react?

As it shows in the video, they were really really thankful and we made them really happy.

Did you ask the people to pay it forward?

Yes we did, and we even wrote it on the card.

How did they react to your request?

They said that they will for sure pay it forward, and they thanked us.

Part 4

Why is the idea of pay it forward important?

Because if one person does something for 3 people , and those three people do it for another three people it could spread all over the world.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?

Yes, I think it has because we handed out about 70 cards saying to pay it forward, and whats 70 multiplied by three? 73 x 3= 210. So if all those 70 people did something kind for 3 people each , then 210 people will know about pay it forward and they will pay it forward too.

It is a random act of kindness that you do to 3 people. You tell them to Pay it Forward, then they will Pay it Forward to 3 other people. It can get very big. You can just say hi or just do a little good deed like picking something up for someone, and it can make there day. If you think about it, you might be able to change the world with one good deed. I also think that one person CAN changed the world. And I also think that you can make yourself a better person by thinking of others instead of always yourself.

What was your Pay it Forward act of kindness? Me, Kim, Christine, and Caitlin gave the patients of the Childrens Hospital goody bags that have little toys and candies in them. Abby, Razel, and I also donated books and toys to them.

Why did you choose this activity? We chose this because we knew that some children in the hospital would be stuck in the hospital during the holidays probably sick. Some of them probably wouldn't be able to receive a gift. So we gave the books, toys, and goody bags to cheer them up.

Who did you help? We helped the children at the hospital and maybe even the hospital itself.

What did you do? We gave goody bags, toys, and books to the children in the Children's Hospital.

When did you do your act of kindness? We did it last Monday during the lunch hour.

How did your act of kindness go? It went very well, the lady who accepted the gifts was very happy and she thanked us.

What happened? I told her that we were donating the toys, we told her that it was from us for a project. She thanked us, she was about to redirect us to Child Life Department, but then they weren't there so she accepted it for them. We also left a note for them.

How did you feel? I felt kind of nervous at first, then after I felt proud and happy that we made a bunch of children happy.

How did the people or person react? She reacted really happily and she was very thankful.

Did you ask the people or person to Pay it Forward? I did, but then she directed us to the Child Life Department but they weren't there so we didnt get a chance.

How did they react to your request? They couldn't...

If you did not ask the person to Pay it Forward how come? Because she was busy and the person we were supposed to be talking to was not there.

Why is the idea of Pay it Forward important? Because we can make people more happy and make the world a better place. Its important because if no ones gonna be a good person, who is?

Has your act of kindness make a difference? I really don't know, but i hope so.

Caitlin T's Pay it Forward

PART 1:
After watching the movie " Pay it Forward " I thought that the movie meant that if one makes a difference by helping 3 different things and that multiplies maybe everyone can feel that they are a hero for helping one. And if you make a difference once it doesn't mean that you don't need to do it again. You should try and try to make a difference so everyone can realize that it's better to make a difference then don't do anything at all.~sorry if it's not the one I handed in, this is one of the paragraphs I made to hand (i made 5 different copies).

PART 2:
Our Pay it Forward act of kindness was going to the childrens hospital to donate new toys and books and giving goody bags . We chose this activity because we love little kids, we could've went with day care but then making goody bags sounded fun to do.(and if we did day care we probably wouldn't be able to take pictures with them without the parents permission.) We helped out little kids by making them happy throughout there sickness. Vicky, Kim, Christine, Abby, and I went to the Childrens Hospital and talked to a lady from the front desk that we were donating things and giving goody bags. She told us to write on a piece of paper what this was for and write our names and address down. She told us that she would give it to some administrator (i think) then she thanked us. We did our act of kindness on monday December 7.

PART 3:
My act of kindness went really well, we entered the building then took pics we waited a while then the lady came to us and asked us what we were doing. We told her that we were donating things. She was trilled and she told us to enter another room . After that she gave us a piece of paper and told us to write down what it was for, then Christine wrote everything Vicky told to write. Then we took more pictures, then we asked a man to take a picutre all of us together. I felt really good that we were doing a good thing . No, but in the cards we wrote "PAY IT FORWARD". We didn't ask the person to Pay it Forward since she was really busy with a patient.

PART4:
It's important because is you help one person, they might help others then like it becomes a chain of helping people. I think that my act of kindness has made a difference because that I might of made a child happy by greeting them a happy holiday and giving a goody bag filled with christmas things and other necessities.

Triangles Richard 8-73

Triangles

Today we learn about triangles.

What is a Triangle

A triangle is one of the basic shapes of geometry a polygon with three corners or vertices and three sides or edges which are line segments
This is a picture of a Triangle.

The two short sides are called leg.

The longest side is called the hypotenuse.

And you think that the sides of that triangle is equal.

I say no because only some combination of side will be produce right triangles.

Winnipeg Harvest

Winnipeg Harvest

What is Winnipeg Harvest ?

Winnipeg Harvest is a place where all sorts of food is brought in then brought out. Brought in meaning that all sorts of food comes in from alot of different people as donations, there they sort them into their own categories, and then packed into groups of four (rice/pasta, proteins, etc). Then brought out means, once its sorted out it then gets delivered to many different places.

DID YOU KNOW THAT ?

That winnipeg harvest helps approximately 4000 people a month from all different places. That would be 40 local schools in winnipeg containing 1000 people.

Why is Winnipeg Harvest so important ?

It is important because it's a place where they want to stop people from hunger, with the basic food needs daily.

What did we do ?

Along with Camille, Alex , Brayden and Mr. Harbeck we were packing plastic bags containing four different types of foods. Once they were packed Mr.Harbeck was then putting them in bigger bags containing seven of those.

Volunteering at winnipeg harvest was a fundimental experience. Also the other volunteers treated us as if we've been there for a long time. We met a few people individually one of them was Kate who explained to what what winnipeg harvest is and also a man named Nick who came to us and helped us pack, but there was more I apologize for not mentioning them excactly. I was shocked to see the poster of where they delivered food, and where the other food banks were located because trust me , its ALOT . Guess what ? After working we also got a break time , we got to drink hot chocolate it was yum :) . So on behalf of us four we thank you Mr.Harbeck and to the Winnipeg Harvest for giving us the previlage to learn and see what its like volunteering there .

Winnipeg Harvest

What is Winnipeg Harvest?

Winnipeg harvest is a place where a lot of the food that goes to homeless shelters like Shalom mission comes from. There are Winnipeg harvest buildings all around Winnipeg, they ship food to food banks and other places. Anyone can get food from a food bank, all you have to do is make an appointment so they no how much the place needs.

What we did There?

Brayden, Jem, Camille and I put food into plastic bags, while Harbeck put 7 of them into a large rice bag, in the bags there was rice/pasta, proteins such as beans or canned fish, canned soup, and canned vegetables. Now it's not as easy as it sounds because we had to take some boxes, either 1(grains), 2(protein), 3(vegetables), and 4 (soup), those boxes when full weighed about 15-20 pounds I guess and we could go through those boxes really fast.

Why is Winnipeg Harvest so Important?

Winnipeg harvest feeds over 40,000 people a month that's about the same amount of people in Brandon, or 40 of our schools. There are a lot of people there that sacrifice their own time to help others, I think about 100 people work there everyday. Winnipeg harvest has been around for about 25 years and has been constantly increasing the amount of people they been helping, hopefully they will continue helping for years to come

It was really fun being at Winnipeg harvest and I learned some interesting things. Everyone there was very helpful and when we were making the food bags some people came to help us, like Camille said there was a person named Nick and 2 other people, i don't know the other peoples names because they didn't have name tags. Also when we managed to finish all the boxes of one category we got a break all of (except Harbeck) had hot chocolate thought Camille took long drinking hers saying it was hot. There was supposed to be some pictures but there aren't any.

Thank you Harbeck for taking us there I had an enjoyable experience. It would be great to go there again. If you want to learn anything more go to

Winnipeg Harvest

What is Winnipeg Harvest ?
Its a warehouse were people donate food, and volunteers sort them out and put them into boxes and the drivers drive the food to food banks around Winnipeg.

What did we do there ?
Alex,Brayden,Jem and I and Mr. Harbeck were packing non perishable food items into a plastic bag. In each bag we put four items that contains grains, vegetables, and soup. After we put these items in to the bags, we get a bigger bag and we put seven littler bags into it.

Why is Winnipeg Harvest so important ?
Winnipeg harvest is very important because they support food items for people who have nothing to eat. And they work very, very hard to supply people food.

Winnipeg Harvest was a very fun and interesting experience. It helped me learn more about what they do there and how they help people. The volunteers and workers were very nice to us. Kate told us how they deliver the food items to the food banks. Also a nice man Nick, helped us tie the bags together. There were more nice people that helped us. They were very nice to us. Its like a second home to these volunteers and workers. We even got to have a break, and have some nice and warm hot chocolate. We took some pictures there but i didnt put it on this post because when i checked the SP blog it wasnt there. So if you would like to see the pictures it could be seen at the sargent park blog.

Thank you Mr. Harbeck for taking us there. I had such a fun time and an amazing experience. I would love to go there again if possible. THANK YOU !

ps. if you would like to volunteer you should visit the site www.winnipegharvest.com you'd have a fun and amazing time.

Thank you for reading my post ! bye ! (:

Questions : Estimating Square Roots 12.07.09

3 Questions

5. Estimate each value, to one decimal place. Check your answer with a calculator.

a) square root of 14

My guess was 3.7 and when I checked the calculator, its 3.7. I found my answer using a number line.

_9_-> 14 <- _16_
3 4

b) square root of 86

My guess was 9.3 and when I checked it on the calculator it was 9.2.

_81_-> 86 <- _100_
9 10

c) square root of 136

My guess was 11.8 and when I checked it on the calculator it was 11.6.

_121_-> 136 <- _144_
11 12

12. While shopping online, ji Hon finds a square rug with an area of 11m2. He needs to know if it will fit in his 4m x 5m bedroom.

a) Estimate the side length of the rug, to one decimal place.

3.2m

b) check your estimate with a calculator.

3.3m

c) Will the rug fit? Explain.

Yes, the rug will fit in his room because the side lengths of his room is 4m x 5m, that would equals 20m2 and the rug's side length is 3.3m x 3.3m, that would equal to 11m2. The are of his room is greater than the area of the rug.

14. Alex is thinking of a number. The number has a square root between 7 and 8 and it is a multiple of 12.

a) What number could he be thinking of?

60

b) Is there more than one answer? Explain,

I dont think so. I think the answer is only 60because 60 is the only number that is a multiple of 12 that have a square root between 7 and 8.
