Squares

Square Roots - side measure of a square . The number I can square to get the area of a square .

  • The square of a number is the number multiplied by itslef .
5 x 5 = 25 or 5 square = 25
  • The square of a whole number is a perfect square . 2 square = 4
so , 4 is a perfect square .
  • The square of a number can be thought of as the area of a square .
4 square = 16
The area is 16 cm square
  • The square root of a number can be thought of as the side length of a square .
√16 = 4
The side length is 4 cm .
  • The square root of a value is a number that when by itself equals the value
6 x 6 = 36 , so √36 = 6
  • In the prime factorization of a perfect square , there is an even number of each prime factor.
36 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 3 (two factors of 2 , two factors of 3 )
