Jerick73 Scribepost for Percent Foldable

Yesterday, we had are homework was to copy down the key ideas in our foldable and show the recipes to find 10%, 5%, 1%, 25%, 150, 0.5%.

Key Ideas
You can use mental math strategies such as halving, doubling, and dividing by ten to find the percents of some numbers.

To calculate the percent of a number, write the percent as a decimal and then multiply by the number.

12.5 % of 50 =0.125 x 50 =6.25

Communicate the Ideas
1. Explain to a classmate how you could use mental math to find each of the following.
a)300% of 40 b)0.5 of 120 c)10.5% of 80

a)300% of 400 , 100% is 40 so you simply multiply 100% by 3 and you get 300%

b)0.5% of 120, Divide 120 by 100 to get 1% and divide by 2 to get half of 1 % which is 0.5%

c)10.5 of 80, Divide 80 by 10 to get the 10 percent , now you have your 10 , to get the .5 divide the 10% by 10 to get 1 % and half that one to get your .5% then add the numbers 10+.5

2. Describe two ways to find 6% of 120

- Divide by 10 to get 10% then divide by two to get 5% , after divide your 10% by 10 to get 1% and add 1%+5% to get your 6% number.

-Divide by 100 to get 1% and multiply that by 6 to get 6%

How To Find...
10% - Divide the Number by 10
5% - Divide by 10 then divide by 2
1% - Divide by 100
25% - Divide by 4
150% - Divide by 2 and add your 100% number with your 50% number
0.5% - Divide by 100 then Divide by 2

Good job Jerick. I liked how you highlighted the certain numbers so it stands out from the rest. Everything was accurate and I couldn't find anything else wrong with it. Btw your font is kinda too big and this line spacing is too close so it kinda confused me, but all in all good job!

good job jerick but this is kinda hard to understand because of the font and colors but still good job.

Using a font that's too big to be appropriate probably screwed up the HTML. Nice job anyways.

good job jerick , your scribe clearly shows and states the steps to find different percents of a number, but just like what hannah said , the font was too big , which made it look complex but other than that , i found your blog well done.

Good job Jerick! (: But I notice that while im scrolling down the font gets bigger and bigger and the end is really confusing. The colors helped, which is a good thing. and I like how you explained stuff. btw a picture would have been great. besides those, you did great! good job! (:
