Caitlin T's BOB October 6

BOB

The Three things I know about graphing are:

1.) There is always an interval on a bar graph(a.k.a bar chart), line graph, double bar graph, and double line graph.

2.)There are 3 ways you can mislead a graph or distort : Distorting the Scale , Distorting the Size of the Bars and Distorting the Visuals.

3.)Line graphs are for showing something over time. Bar graphs are for comparing data by categories or groups(i think). Circle graphs are best for comparing data by using percents. Pictographs are best for comparing data using pictures as a representative.

What I know that would improve my test:

I could've improved if i put more information, exspecially better sentences(which I didn't do). Plus maybe i Should've used that paper that was handed out. && I should've made everything better, like my drawings, my writing etc.

3 Things I Know About Graphing

1. First I know that graphing is a way to represent data
using pictures or diagrams.
2. There are many types of graphs.

3. A graph can be distorted to change the way the data appears.

3 things i know about graphing.

- You can mess with the graph by putting a break on y-axis, distort the size of bars, or make a a bar or picture by changing its size or colour.

- When your gonna do a double line or bar graph you need 2 piece's of data.

- Line graph uis best for showing the data over time, circle graph is best for doing the %.

The 3 things i know about graphing are..

1.There is a title at the top of the graph to make sure the people you are showing the graph to know what the graph is about.

2.The intrevals on the side indicate on how much or how many one thing has depends on the number.

3.The labels must be on the x axis and the y axis to indicate what the intrevals on the y axis are and the number are the x axis are.

What I know now that would improve my test.

What i know now that would improve my test is that to do a bar graph instead of doing a double line graph.

3 Things I Know About Graphing

1. Your graphs always should have titles and lables or you won't get full marks , the title is on the top of the graph and on the bar graph and the line graph there are titles on the x axis and the y axis

2. There are a variety of graphs : Bar Graph , Line Graph , Pi Graph , Picto Graph , Double Line Graph, and Double Bar Graph .

3. There are 3 ways you can mislead a graph or distort : Distorting the Scale , Distorting the Size of the Bars and Distorting the Visuals.

What I Could of Did To Improve on my Test

To improve on my assessment i would of did the data organization better because all i did was did tallys but i didnt put them in a chart it was all scatered around my page .

3 Things I know About Graphing

-The numbers on the y-axis (intervals) must remain constant unless you put a break in the y-axis which could either be a lightning bolt or a space in the line which looks like =, that is the only way the intervals should be different, but that only works for the first interval every thing else needs to be the same. Example, the first interval is 0-2 and there is a break in between that, after that it goes 2-3, 3-4 etc.

-There are 6 types of graphs a line graph, a double line graph , a bar graph, a double bar graph, a circle graph, and a pictograph.

-When your graphing there should always be a title, and labels on the y-axis and x-axis.

What I Could of Improved on the Assessment

I could have colored the graph. Also I could have made better sentences.

What these graphs are used for:
Bar Graph: Are best for comparing data across categories.
Line Graph: Are best for showing changes in data over time.
Circle Graph: Are best for comparing categories in percent.
Pictograph: Are best for comparing data that can be easily counted and representing data.

Misrepresenting Data:
1: Distorting the scale

You are distorting the scale because there is a break in the y axis.

2: Distorting the Visuals:

You are distorting the visuals by making the smaller data bigger than the other data which, makes the data look like it is more important than the others.

3: Distorting the Size of the Bars

You are distorting the size of the bars because in graph B You are making it look fatter than it usually is.

The Intervals:
The interval has to be the same distance or the graph will be distorted. The interval is the space or distance between things.

What I know that would improve my test:
I would put a tally chart with my t-chart. I would also talk about the trends in my paragraphs.

Now, I know that we have to do tally chart to order the data. I thought we just have to arrange the data in ascending or descending order. And also, I would try to make a better paragraph so get a better mark.

-You can use bar graphs, circle graphs(uses percents), and a number line.

-There is a y-axis and x-axis with 4 quadrants. The first quadrant is ++. The second is +-. The third quadrant is -- and the fourth quadrant is -+. The quadrants are labeled as roman numerals. Finally, the origin is in the middle of the graph. The coordinates of the origin is (0,0).

-There are double line graphs and double circle graphs.

What I know that would improve my test scores.

I would study more so that I can remember the answers easily.

3 Things I know about graphing

1. I know that Graphing could be used for a lot of things like showing data but some graphs are different and should be used in different ways.Like how Line graph should be used for displaying data over time, Bar graph for showing which one is bigger and etc.

2. Most graphs need intervals. It doesnt matter what the intervals are but it would be better if it is good with the data.

What I know now that will improve my test:

I now know that just organising it by ascending order isnt good enough for something like this. For something like rolling the dices and how many times you got the sum you should do a tally of the number and the sum

what i know about graphing:

one of the three things i know about graphing is i know that the spread between numbers on the y-axis is suppost to be the same.

another thing i know how to do is ascending or descending the number of data i have in order.

and i know what to right as the title of the graph.

what i know now that would improve my test:

for both graphs i didn't put the right labels, i put the right ones i could of got a better mark so i only got 15/25 on my test.

Abby's homework

Graph A: Accurate

Graph B: Distorted

Conclusion: The Graph A is more accurate than Graph B because Graph B is distorted by distorting the y- axis and by messing with the colors. When you look at Graph B number 4 and 5 looks like there's a big difference even if it's not really that big.

Graph A is a normal graph showing the data.With that graph it looks like theyre all pretty much the same differences and none of them are too big.

Graph B is a graph that is misrepresented.It makes it look like Graph 8 is up by a lot but its actually just up by a little.

Im not really sure what to do so sorry if I did it wrong.

An icecream store developed this following graph to advertise its icecream.

a) What icecream store do you believe developed this graph? Explain.

-I think that "Cool Flavours" developed this graph because it wouldn't make much sence to advertise your own company and show it with less of the money.

b) How is this graph misleading?

-This graph is misleading because the pictures are different sizes, the cool flavours icecream is too much bigger than the other picture even though it only has $2 million more than the other.

Answer to B:

C)What can you conclude from the 2nd bar graph? Explain

Answer to B: I think that the 2nd Bar graph shows that the crimes went down by a little.

D)How is the 2nd graph misleading?

Answer to C: It is misleading because you wouldn't know how much crimes there was each year.
