Surface Area growing post Richard

If you want to find the surface area of a triangular prism you need to find the the area of the 2 triangles and the3 squares then add all the surface area of the 2 triangles and 3 squares then you should get the total surface area.Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Darnell Richard Allen Pay it Forward
Darnell Richard Allen PAY IT FORWARD!
Part 1
What is "Pay it Forward"?
Pay it forward is a random act of kindness given to random people. Like giving a lollipop to a little girl for example.
Part 2
Why did you choose this activity?
Me Richard, and Allen decided to pass out small coloured candy canes around the school. Richard bought the $4 worth of candy canes from super store. We all pitched in atleast $1 to make the deal fair.
What did you do?
The 3 of us passed out candy canes through out the school. Our first customer were little grade 3 kids from Ms.Nickels class. The kids kept grabbing and eventually, the bag ripped with a big hole. So Richard put the candy canes in his jackets pocket since his pockets are big. Then we handed out the rest of the candy canes around the hallway and outside the school. We also went into Allen's apartment to handout. We knocked on doors and gave out candy canes. It was a kindness to show that we have our "Christmas" spirit!
When did you do your act of kindness?
We did our act of kindness Wednesday December 9, 2009 at lunch time.
Part 3
How did your act of kindness go?
It was actually really fun handing out the candy canes. We had our laughs and smiles as we handed it out and it was really enjoying, except when the little grade 3's started ripping up the bag. That was really funny!
How did it feel and how did the people react?
It felt really nice to give out something nice to the people. The people were pleased that they had candy canes, in our honor of our kind of our "Christmas" spirit.
Did you ask them to pay it forward?
Yes we did actually. As we passed it out to the adults outside and inside the buildings we asked them.
Part 4
Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" so important?
So we can change the world in a short time so the world can be a better place and people around the world.
Why is "Pay it Forward" important?
So we can change the world into a better place then what it is now, so the world expects something from some one.
Sorry that we dont have any pictures. They were deleted on Allen's camera unfortunately :(

Pay it Forward
Part 1
Pay it forward means to me helping people out. Like volunteer in school community, volunteer in a soup kitchen, and lots of more. And that's making people happy and joyful. The movie that we watched pay it forward has a big influence on me. You guys should watch it.
Part 2
For my Pay it forward activity, I babysit my 3 cousin's. Jerimiah, Isiah, Elijah. And the four of us were talking. We also played video games. So it was fun, it wasn't boring. My cousins had fun. And they were asking when am I going to come there house. I said christmas.
Part 3
My act of kindness did well, I made my family members happy, and I enjoyed it. And I can always do it when my aunts our busy. So it was fun.
Part 4
The idea of Pay it forward is very important because it gives everyone hope. Who ever made this movie pay it forward should get extra credit. We can make lot of difference all over the world. And I enjoyed doing this project. It felt really awesome. You should also watched that movie its really untouching.
Sorry if I can't put pictures I don't know why. So I'm really sorry.

%%%%% Rate Growing Post Richard 8-73
Ratio is comparing 2 quantities with the same units.
Rate is comparing 2 quantities with different units.
The difference Rate and Ratio is ratio compares 2 quantities with the same units. And rate compares 2 quantities with different units.
4. Determine the unit rate in each situation.
An orca swims 110km in 2 h. 55km/h.
A Canada goose flies 800km in 12.5 h. 64km/h
Cathy plants 45 daffodills in 30 min. 1.5daff/min.
10. Trevor rode his mountain bike 84 km in 3h. Jullian rode 70 km in 2.5 h. Who's faster.
There both faster because 84 divided by 3 gives you 28 and 70 divided by 2.5 gives you 28. So there the same.
Were also trying o figure out how much ingredients for 10 people and how many for one.
All you need to do is multiply each ingredients by 2.5,

How to stop the alien by Richard 8-73
I was on my way home to from school. And then I saw something above the sky. It look like a ship. Then there were aliens coming out of the door. And then aliens said that we need your help humans. They need help on math question. And I said yes.
5.)Find the unit rate
a.2 pens for 94 cents.
I used fraction. Cents/Pens
94/2 I divided 94 and 2 by 2. And you should get 47 over 1 like this. 47/1.
b. Delia was paid 35$ for 5 hours of babysitting. how will she get 3 hours.
Money/ Hours =35/5. I divided each side 5. And you should get 7/1. And then I multiplied both sides by 3. You should get 21/3.
Page 68.
13. Two quarters have the same value of ten nickels. What is the value of five quarters in nickel.
2 quarters/10 nickels= 5 quarters/25 nickels.
And the aliens said thank you.

Richard 8-73 squeares and rectangle
1. First of all, the sides of the rectangle are not equal.
2.But they can be equal. And if there all equal you get a square.
3. So a square can be rectangle.
4.But a rectangle can't be a square.
If you want to find Perimeter you must follow all the steps i give you.
Example: Length of 8 and the Width with 6.
P=8+6+8+6
P=28
If you want to find Area you must also follow all the steps I give you
Example: Length of 8 and the Width of 6
A= L x W
A= 8L x 6W
A=48

scribepost Question 10 Richard mathtextbook
Tyler counted 20 cars in the School parking lot. Of these 6 were red, 4 were green, and 1 yellow.
a.) Show how to represent the situation?
20 cars, 6 red, 4 green, yellow.
b.) How many cars were not red, green,or yellow?
add the all the car color and and subtract the total and you should get 9.
Example 6+4+1-20=9
c.)What is the ratio of yellow to green to red cars
6:4:1
d.) What is the ratio of red to total cars? Express the ratio as a fraction and a percent?
6/20 6 divided by 20 multiply b 100 gives 35 percent

Bob Ratio 2 Richard
What I need to improve on.
1. I need to improve on reading the questions carefully because if don't I cant answer any word problem ratio.
2. I also need to understand the word problem carefully. And I was struggling. So I need to understand the problem carefully.

Part to Part Ratio.
Blue :Green(1:6), Yellow:Green(4:6),Yellow:Blue(4:1
Part to Total Ratio.
Blue:Total(1:18),Yellow:Total(4:18),Green:Total(6:18)
Three Part Ratio
Blue:Yellow:Green(1:4:6),Green:Blue:Total(6:1:18
Show one ratio as a ratio notation.
I piked 4:6 (Yellow:Green)
Fraction 4/6, Percent 67%, Decimal 66.6.
You can always get equivalent ratio by dividing and multiplying ratio.
Three questions.
1.Give me three ways to show 1:18?
2.1:6 what does this ratio represent?
3.4:1 what does this ratio represent?

Three things I know about graph.
1. If your making a graph you should always have a tittle and labels or else you didn't do it right. The tittle should be on the top of the graph. On the bar graph and a line graph you should always have a tittle on the y axis and the x axis.
2. There different kinds of graph like bar graph, line graph, circle graph, pic graph, double bar graph, and a double line graph.
3In a graph there is three ways to distort a graph. Distort the scale, Distort the visual, and Distort the size of the bar graph
Things I need to improve on.
I could improve my graph by putting the labels properly. I also need to put more details and I didn't order them using a chart. And I also forgot to color.

Richard "The Four4s" Scribepost

They are different because the first question was a fraction that when you divide gives you whole number while the second question was in a simple division where we incorporate the rule of BEDMAS.
