Rate - Compares quantities in units.


Ratio - Compares 2 quantities measured in different units.





The difference bewtween ratio and rate is ratio compares two quantities that are the same, rate compares two quantities that are different.








6. Gina earns $78 for working 6 h. Asad makes $192.50 after working 14 h. Determine each persons unit rate of pay. Who has a greater hourly rate of pay?


Gina - $13/h


Asad - 13.71/h


Asad has a greater hourly rate of pay.





10. Trevor rode his mountain bike 84 km in 3 h. Jillian rode 70km in 5 h. Who is the faster cyclist? How do you know?


They both rode at the same speed.


Jillian rode her bike at 28km/h


Trevor also rode his bike at 28km/h





QUESTION: If Jill runs up 10 metres of the hill in 5 minutes, how much does she run in 1 minute?


Jill runs 2 metres up the hill in a minute. 2m/min





PART 2


1) You would have to multiply all the ingredients by 2.5. Because the portion is 4 and to get the portions to 10 is to multiply it by 2.5.


2) I would divide the recipe for 10 buy 10 to get the portion for 1.
